ABOUT ME
Hello! I'm Rieka Hunt, a self published fantasy author. I've been writing for over a decade but only began my publishing journey in 2021.
It started when I was pretty young because I was obsessed with reading so it got me thinking about if I could write a book too. My first 'novel' I handwrote in the 4th grade. From there I was always writing short stories as I got older and the internet became more of thing, I started looking for websites to post my word on. That's when I found (drum roll please) WATTPAD! Yes ladies and gentleman, I was a Wattpad kid haha.
After years of doing that, Wattpad started to grow and expand. Some authors were getting book deals or started self-publishing their work so that's when I considered doing the same.
The original goal was to start taking it more seriously. I wanted to get into social media, write way more, and grow my audience. But that's when I started falling down the fantasy rabbit hole and uh... well fantasy didn't do so well on Wattpad. At least not my dark fantasy. So, I started looking for a new place to call home. I found a few others that interested me but it never felt quite right which is when I stopped and thought to myself, why don't I just do it on my own and try to make some cash?
So, that's how I ended up here. I wrote, rewrote, rewrote again, edited a lot, and got some awesome friends to beta read for me (then edited some more) until my debut novel Of Lies and Shadows was complete. Then, I went to Amazon and hit publish.
Now I do that same thing all day everyday. It's exciting, I swear!
Some bonus information:
I'm a huge gamer. I like cozy farming games but I'm also a Resident Evil addict. I used to be a Playstation gal but now I've joined the PC master race which was exciting.
I'm a huge animal lover. In my lifetime I've owned fish, cats, dogs, ferrets, hamsters, and guinea pigs. I've been around pigs, chickens, horses, and a donkey before too. The donkey was the coolest and was my best friend (it was a neighbors).
As most writers I am indeed a reading addicts. I prefer physical books, preferably hardbacks, because they're just easier on my eyes. After staring at screens all day to work I just can't do it to read too. And of course I do prefer fantasy but I like romance, dystopian, and a really good spicy novel.
