A.I.

A.I. has been a hot topic lately and for great reasons so I wanted to throw my two cents in.

If you're new here and don't know me, I am very anti A.I. and I'll tell you why. It isn't just because you're stealing from creatives who have worked their asses off on their craft. Though, that is awful and should be enough reason for anyone to hate it. But I hate it because it continues this ridiculous theme of everyone gets a participation trophy.

See, in today's world everyone just gets everything. Teachers are no longer allowed to fail students or hold them back in grade levels. Parents who act like actual parents and discipline their children are now terrible monsters. No one is allowed to tell their child no anymore for whatever reason the beige moms have come up with this week. And god forbid not everyone be included in everything. We all have to get along and agree on everything because that's just how things are now.

This is why I think A.I. has become so popular and why people get so defensive when you say you're against it. Because we're supposed to welcome everyone into everything. No questions asked. So what if they're stealing? They now call themselves an artists so the artists have to welcome them into their club! So what if they ran a writing prompt through a program and it plagiarized hundreds of books to come up with something. They're now a writer or an author and we have to welcome them into the community!

My opinion on this grew stronger when I saw A.I. lovers calling people ablest for being anti-A.I.. Not everyone can draw or write! Some people have disabilities so they need A.I. to do the work for them! But, let's conveniently forget about all the disabled artists out there who worked their asses off to find a process that works for them then honed their talents and skills. If we mention them, they lose their excuse.

Because that's all it is. An excuse. An excuse to be lazy and continue to get that participation trophy because you had a singular creative thought.

If you really wanted to get into art and turn it into a job, you'd sit down with a pencil and a piece of paper or a tablet and practice. You'd go through that awkward phase where everything looks like a two year old drew it. You'd learn anatomy or color theory or how to make everything look shiny. But they don't want to do that. They want to take the easy way out.

If you really wanted to write that book then you'd learn how to. You'd go through the awkward fanfiction phase or that classic bad-boy, cliche Wattpad romance stage. You'd learn how to show and not tell. You'd try to learn where those pesky commas go and start using way too many em-dashes like the rest of us. You'd learn how to build up characters and worlds. But they don't want to do that. They want to take the easy way out.

So, A.I. users. We will continue to shove you out of our communities and spread your names around to our friends because quite frankly, it's fucking ridiculous and disrespectful. We've put in the work. We've done the trial and erroring. We've put in our blood, sweat, and tears to hone our talents and skills. All you did was come along, steal them, and pass them off as something amazing and original and something that took you so much time and effort! You had the oh so hard job of finding the right way to phrase your prompt so you could get the result you wanted!

Fuck you and fuck off.
